January can be a quiet month in many respects but not in the NGNPUK world. Here, the weeks were again full of amazing people jumping to help us out.
Anyway, it’s time for a little reminder of what a syringe driver is:
It is a small computerised machine that delivers pain relief and other drugs in palliative care. They can help patients remain comfortable at home with their loved ones instead of going into hospital or a hospice. One machine costs £1100 and can help so many during its working lifetime. Many areas share a small number of these vital machines and it is so important that we keep fundraising to supply the communities. The difference a syringe driver makes to both patients and their families is enormous. We receive so many letters telling us this.

TESCO:
We have been lucky enough to have been chosen as one of Tesco’s charities for their bags of help scheme for the months of January and February.
There are three charities to choose from and the one with the most votes will receive £4000. The second and third charities will receive £2000 and £1000 so it is well worth casting your vote.
As we've mentioned, Syringe Drivers cost £1100 each and one machine can help so many people in palliative care during its working lifetime. Syringe Drivers can help patients remain comfortable at home with their families instead of going into hospital or a hospice by administering pain relief and other drugs continually over a period of time. Many large areas shared just a small number of these machines but with everyone's help we are increasing these numbers in our local communities.
All you have to do to help is make any purchase and pick up a blue coin at the tills (even the self-service tills) then pop it in the bags of help collection station.

GILDENBURGH CHOIR DONATION:
Big thanks to everyone at the Gildenburgh Choir in Peterborough for the donation of £81 to NGNPUK. This money was collected by the choir at Christmas instead of sending out Christmas cards
REINDEER FOOD WAS A GREAT SUCCESS:
Thank you to everyone who bought our Wildlife Friendly Reindeer food for Christmas Eve. We raised a whopping £82.43! We hope Rudolph and his friends enjoyed it and it helped to keep them all well fed.
THE PINK TUBS:
Big thanks to everyone who put their spare change in the NGNPUK tub at The Enchanted Plaza in Yaxley. You raised a fab £48.00 to go into the Syringe Driver pot
-and another big thanks to everyone at the NHS Retirement Foundation who put their spare change in the NGNPUK tub. You all raised a fantastic £62.95 to go into the Syringe Driver pot.
RECYCLING CHRISTMAS RAFFLE:
Big thanks to all the members of staff at Vanden Recycling in Whittlesey who held a Christmas raffle and donated an amazing £210 to NGNPUK from the proceeds.
These donations make a massive difference and really help us provide more machines to be used in the local communities. Lee went along to meet everyone to say thank you and had a very interesting time finding out what these guys do. They recycle industrial plastics into small plastic flakes ready to be re used.
Huge thanks to everyone and to Danny Baker for recommending NGNPUK as the charity to benefit from the raffle.
BT MYDONATE UPDATE:
We have always used BT Mydonate as our online giving page as they have always taken a much smaller percentage per donation than many other giving pages. The maximum we have ever paid has been 20p per donation where some sites charge £15 a month as well as a %.
Sadly we have been informed that BT have taken the decision to close their online giving page on 30th June 2019.
We are still able to accept payments up to and including 30th however we will need to use a different online giving site after this date.
We will be looking into different giving pages to work out which one will be best for us to use. In the meantime if you would like to fundraise for us by using Mydonate you can still do that up to 30th June. Gift aid will still be claimed and paid to us (which is a big help).
We will confirm which online site we will be using after this date once we have done all our homework to find out which one gets us the most for everyone's pennies.
SYRINGE DRIVER BAGS:
We are pleased to say we will be able to donate 304 bags and 8 double bags today (double bags are a new prototype developed by Jan Sharman for people who may need more than one machine).
That is an amazing effort and we would like to thank everyone who has made a bag!
