Welcome to July’s blog! It’s been yet another busy month here at NGNPUK
Donations
We have had some amazing donations this month coming from the Burghley Family Trust, The Earl Fitzwilliam Charitable Trust, and the Masonic Fenland Farmer Lodge.
We would like to thank these Trusts and organisations for their generosity. These donations will make a massive difference to patients and their families in palliative care in our local communities by enabling us to buy more machines.
Tour of Cambridgeshire | Gran Fondo
This month we were offered a fantastic opportunity to help at next year's Tour Of Cambridgeshire at the Peterborough showground on Sunday 7th June 2020!
We were looking for 20 willing volunteers who would each earn a £50 donation directly to NGNPUK by helping on the day. We realised it was a year away but we know how busy everyone gets.
The first 10 volunteers would be on traffic duty between 6am and 12 and the second 10 would be needed from midday until around 6pm to hand out medals to the finishers. (What
a great job :) !)
Lunch and a t-shirt will be provided, and everyone would just need to be able to get to the venue at Peterborough showground and back again.
We were so pleased with the response and now have our 20 volunteers! What a great way to earn some money for NGNPUK so thank you everyone who has volunteered.
Annual Ukelele Picnic - Wansford
Also this month plans were well underway for the annual WUF’s Picnic by the river.
The wonderful Wansford Ukulele Folk are playing for the 3rd year running in aid of NGNPUK on 3rd August. This has always been a wonderful event and we would like to thank Elin and Paul Floe Styles for opening their beautiful garden and hosting the event again. It really is a spectacular setting. Huge thanks to the WUF again they, are a fantastic band.
Tickets are now all sold out and we hope the sun shines for everyone on the day.
NGNPUK Christmas Fayre
Preparations are also well underway for the NGNPUK Early Bird Christmas Fayre. Yes we know it’s early but we have to be organised :).
The date is booked for 3rd November at the Eastrea Centre, and no doubt this will soon roll around!
If you would like a stall please contact Nicky Bedford either through Facebook or by emailing at [email protected]
As with previous years we are trying to have one of each type of stall to give customers a good variety so please do not be offended if we already have a stall selling the same items and you are put on the reserves list.
Nearer the time if anyone would like to make us a cake for our coffee and cake stall we would really appreciate that. We had some AMAZING cakes last year.
Bits and bobs!
We would like to thank Gwen Pacey for the raffle prizes and car boot bits donated this month also thanks to Joan for the beautiful syringe driver bags you have made and donated.
Louises 1000 miles for NGNPUK
Last but by no means is least Louise still running! 330 miles left for her 1000 miles in 2019 challenge.
On Sunday 28 th July Louise and her running pals were out trying to raise awareness of NGNPUK, syringe drivers and the vital role they play in palliative care at a rather wet race in Littleport. Littleport is just one of the areas covered by the Fenland District Nurse teams of the CPFT.
They also cover Ely, March, Wisbech, Soham, Chatteris, Parsons Drove, Haddenham, Manea, Sutton, Doddington, Burwell and all surrounding towns and villages.
NGNPUK hope to supply more machines to these areas in the next batch.
Big thanks to Amy Hales and Carl Ellingham for donning the charity vests to help spread the word it all helps.
